Let us take a look at why small-screen smartphones are not much in demand now.
Why small-screen smartphones are not popular anymore?
Smaller the smartphones, the lesser the features
There’s no denying the fact that small-screen smartphones are handy than the big ones. But they somewhere lack the latest technologies as new technologies require more space. There is no use of buying a smartphone that has no latest technologies and functions. Moreover, if there is less or no space in smartphone chances are it may lack or heat up fast. Both these problems are quite frustrating. Another reason why smartphones with smaller screen are not much in demand anymore is that these phones lack the dual-SIM feature. And most of us are in a habit of keeping 2 SIM at a time.
Small smartphones don’t meet market needs now
There is a huge difference between the smartphones that are being launched now and the smartphones that were launched a decade ago. Previously, people didn’t really care about the features of a smartphone as they only owned one to either use social media platform specifically Facebook, or just for calling. Also, they were least bothered to know about the storage, functioning, camera quality, processor and other aspects of the phone. But the scenario is different now. Customers seek for smartphones with bigger screen display and more storage capacity. Previously, 6-inch display smartphone was the biggest display but now 8-inch display smartphones that have foldable screens are also being launched. Also, people have to attend meetings, play games, attend online classes, which cannot be done on small screen smartphones smoothly and they eventually demand for large-screen smartphones. Thus, the manufacturers have to develop smartphones with large screen. On contrary, if we consider small-screen smartphones handy for some people, manufacturers still face issues while producing these phones as it is quite challenging to include heat dissipation and big batteries in these phones.
They have poor market performance
What happens when a product is not performing as per the manufacturer’s expectancy? If this is the case, the manufacturer is left with no choice and he has to cut the product. For instance, iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 13 mini had the poorest sale and looking into the scenario, Apple had to eliminate the iPhone 14 mini model. This resulted iPhone 14 series to have a 6-inch+ display. The major reason why small-screen smartphones are losing their popularity is they now have poor market performance. Conclusion Looking into the present scenario, the smartphones with small display are not much popular now. However, they are still availble in market for purchase. As the market for the small-screen smartphones is declining day by day, chances are a day will come when manufacturers will stop manufcaturing these small-screen smartphones.
